Requirements: 36 graduate hours as follows:

 

·         Eight mathematics courses (24 hours)     

o       MATH 629, 645, 646, and 696

o       MATH 640, 470, and/or 664 (quantum computing)

o       Three other mathematics courses – approved by your committee chair

·         Two mathematics leadership courses  (6 hours)

o       Topics in 21st century mathematics

o       Curriculum development

o       Educational Administration courses EDAD 605, 606, 626, 637, 638, 650,659, 670

·         Statistics (3 hours)

o       STAT 601, 651

·         Capstone course (3 hours)

o       Research paper(s). (Proposed new course Math 665) with suggested topics:

§         Curriculum development

§         Standards in mathematics

§         High stakes examinations

§         Placement examinations

§         Teaching collegiate mathematics courses

§         Student motivation in mathematics

§         AP courses

§         Assessment – methods and categories

§         Using the Internet to teach mathematics

o       Two presentations at national/state mathematics meetings
